Our young stock include horses that are not yet trained, or are in the very early stages of training. They will range in age from brand new foals (baby horses) to horses around 3 years of age. Training for riding typically begins when our horses are two-years old, but sometimes not until they are three-years old.

A baby horse is called a "foal". A female baby is a "filly" and a male baby is a "colt". A foal still nursing from its mother, or "dam", may be called a "suckling". Once weaned, it is called a "weanling". At a year of age, it is a "yearling".
